What is a "hotlink"?

âHotlinkingâ means displaying an image on a website without actually hosting it there. While the image is displaying on the webpage, the image file is hosted somewhere else and not actually saved on the site's server.
A hotlink is a bit like looking through a window to the imageâs original location. You can often see where an image is hosted by right-clicking and selecting âOpen image in new tabâ.
If the displayed page URL and the image URL are not the same it is probably a hotlinked use. Pixsy is able to recognize these uses and the match will not be available for case submission. This is because in most situations if the website owner has used a hotlink to display your image - compensation recovery is not possible.

You could, however, send a takedown notice. Read: What is a takedown notice.
