Welcome! Pixsy gives you an easy-to-use and effective set of tools to manage your images and any cases of unauthorized use. From import/upload images to match review through to takedown notices and cases.
We are here to help you every step of the way. You will find the following information as well as the other articles here in our help center useful in getting the most out of your Pixsy account.
Import images - one-click sync or manual upload
Navigate to Import at the top of the image overview screen.
To get started you need to tell Pixsy which images you want us to monitor. You can organize your images at the image import source, then select that import source to sync your images to Pixsy. The images must be hosted in a gallery set to "public" in order for us to monitor them.
You can also upload your images manually from your computer.
Matches delivered
Pixsy will start showing you matches within the first few minutes of your images being imported. A match is a term Pixsy uses to refer to images we find that ‘match’ the visual profile of your own synced or uploaded images.
Matches show you the places where we have found your work online and are shown by the image and the domain that it was found on.
Sometimes Pixsy will find images that are not yours but look very similar to your image. This is to help you find derivative works, where changes may have been made to your images.
Review matches
Once your matches have been delivered you should review them to check for unauthorized use of your work.
You can apply smart filters, either in the query bar or using the cards in the match overview screen- to get quick access to the matches that are most interesting to you. For example, you could sort by commercial, submittable, country or search by image file name. You can also combine smart filters for even more accurate results.
You can choose to view your matches in either grid view or list view.
Accuracy filter
Pixsy applies an accuracy filter to your match results. The accuracy filter sorts from high accuracy (very likely that it is your image) through medium to low accuracy (less likely to be your image).
Adjusting the accuracy filter will affect the quality and number of matches that you are shown and should help you to find actionable matches faster.
Using the match viewer
You are free to decide what action to take on a domain that is using one of your images. To see specific match information, click on the matched image to open the match viewer. This is where you will find the action buttons.
The match viewer allows you to closely compare the image, so you can be certain the image is yours. You can see all the information relating to the use of the image, such as the title and URL of the domain page it was found on and where that website operates from.
When there are more than one of your images found on a domain we refer to this as a “match cluster”, they will be shown at the bottom of the match viewer.
Before taking action on a domain it's best to review these additional images and take steps to "clean up the match" before taking any further steps. You can choose “approved use”, “not my image” and simply, “ignore” when reviewing these images, which removes them from the match.
You may also choose to ignore the match, perhaps you are already aware of the use or you do not wish to take action on this domain. You can hit the ignore button at the top of the viewer which allows you to ignore a domain at depth.
Flagging the image marks it, so you can return to it later.
Keyboard shortcuts
Keep the match viewer open to quickly review your matches using the keyboard shortcuts provided.
Submit a case to Pixsy
A good case is when your image has been used, by a commercial organization (for monetary gain), without your permission. You can read more about what makes a good case here.
If you believe that you have found a viable case of copyright infringement, which is on a website hosted in one of Pixy’s supported countries you can submit it to our case management team using the “Submit Case” button in the toolbar at the top of the match viewer. This is free. We don’t charge a fee unless we are successful in receiving compensation for you. You will be guided through the case submission form which asks for all the information we need to proceed.
Sometimes the "Submit Case" button will be unavailable, this is because Pixsy has already identified that we would not accept the match as a case.
If you are aware of a use of your image that has not been shown to you in your matches, you can still submit it to us manually using the “Cases” button on the left of your case dashboard.
Send a takedown notice
What if the match is not a viable case? A takedown notice is a legally-compliant request for a domain to remove your image. It’s easy to send a takedown with Pixsy.
It takes just one click. However, it’s important not to send a takedown notice first if you want to submit a match to us as a case.
